On July 27th, 2010 Minister Barry Andrews TD, Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, today launched the National Quality Standards Framework for Youth Work in the Coach House, Dublin Castle.

Recommendation to reduce voting age does not go far enough

The National Youth Council of Ireland’s welcomes the report from the Committee on the Constitution entitled ‘Fourth Report - Article 16: Review of the Electoral System for the Election of Members to Dáil Éireann’ released earlier today as a step in the right direction by advising Government to reduce the voting age. In addition the recommendation of an awareness programme to encourage young voters will serve to provide a valuable resource for young people.

Voluntary code on alcohol advertising continues to fail our children and young people

The National Youth Council of Ireland believes the report released yesterday on alcohol advertising in 2009 is full of loopholes and weak explanations for apparent breaches of the voluntary code by the alcohol and advertising industries.
